Xi'an Jiaotong University celebrates 2026 graduates with innovation focus

Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) marked a momentous occasion on June 25 as it hosted its 2026 Postgraduate Graduation and Degree Awarding Ceremony at Innovation Harbor. The event, coinciding with XJTU's 130th anniversary and the 70th anniversary of its westward relocation, saw 7,796 postgraduates, including 248 international students from 55 countries, embark on new journeys.

This year's graduates demonstrated a commitment to aligning their careers with national priorities, contributing to regional development and national defense. Over 2,000 students engaged in significant enterprise research projects, reflecting the university's strong industry-education partnerships.

The ceremony recognized outstanding postgraduates and student leaders, particularly those dedicating themselves to grassroots roles in western China, defense science, and civil service. Their contributions were celebrated as examples of patriotic responsibility and voluntary dedication.

In his address, President Zhang Liqun highlighted the dual opportunities and challenges posed by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence. He urged graduates to stay attuned to global trends, uphold strong ideals, and enhance their capabilities to thrive in an intelligent era. Zhang emphasized the importance of proactive engagement over passive concern, encouraging lifelong learning and humanistic insight.

The event featured insights from distinguished faculty, alumni, and corporate leaders who invoked the West Relocation Spirit, urging graduates to commit to rigorous research and address technological challenges with a patriotic spirit.

Graduates, including international students, expressed aspirations in technology, industry, and cross-cultural exchange, pledging to contribute to national rejuvenation.

The ceremony concluded with graduates taking a solemn oath, singing the school anthem and "Ode to the Motherland." The release of 2,026 peace pigeons symbolized dreams of youth and patriotism, wishing each graduate success. A degree conferral session followed, marking the beginning of their new endeavors.
