XJTU delegation visits Belarus to expand SCO educational collaborations

XJTU and BSU sign a cooperation agreement to deepen collaboration in talent development, academic exchanges, and joint research.
A delegation from Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), led by President Zhang Liqun, visited Belarus from June 16 to 18, where they visited Belarusian State University (BSU) and attended Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) University events at the 10th Meeting of Education Ministers of the SCO Member States.
Zhang attended the opening ceremony of the SCO University Presidents’ Forum and Youth Forum on June 16, where he highlighted the university’s achievements in building collaborative educational platforms, cultivating talent, driving scientific innovation, and fostering cultural exchange.
Following the speeches, XJTU and BSU signed an inter-university cooperation agreement, witnessed by the SCO Ministers of Education, with the two institutions pledging to deepen collaboration in talent cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, and scientific research.
Zhang attended the plenary session of the SCO University Presidents' Forum on June 17, delivering a keynote address on XJTU’s practical achievements within the SCO educational framework.
The delegation then held talks with BSU Rector Andrei Karol on June 18 during their visit to the university, where both parties discussed ways to advance institutional partnerships and talent cultivation and agreed to expand joint efforts in economics, finance, journalism, and communication.
Deans and department heads from both universities also held in-depth discussions regarding discipline development, joint research, and exchange programs.
