Innovation camp paves the way for a brighter future

The closing ceremony of the XJTU International Industry-Education Innovation Camp at Xi'an Jiaotong University was held on September 5 in X'an, Shaanxi province.

The event attracted over 150 participants from the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, and Ireland, alongside representatives from Xi'an Jiaotong University and its affiliated middle school.

Zhang Liqun, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, highlighted that this innovation camp is a key component of the Young Envoys Scholarship (YES) project. It underscores the university's dedication to fostering cultural exchanges and serves as an essential platform for integrating international industry and education.

Supported by the Ministry of Education and the China Education International Exchange Association, with backing from overseas universities and enterprises, the event successfully emphasized "mutual learning of civilizations" and "integration of industry and education," according to Zhang.

Manuel Barcia, pro-vice chancellor of the University of Bath in the UK, commended the "International Industry Education Integration Summer Camps" for receiving strong support and positive feedback from over 100 University of Bath students. He noted that the event facilitated communication and learning among students and deepened the relationship between the two institutions.

During the ceremony, representatives from Politecnico di Milano and camper representatives from Oxford University, Lyon Central Institute of Technology, and the University of Rome shared their insights and experiences.

This innovation camp is part of the YES projects for Europe by Xi'an Jiaotong University. Over the past three years, it has engaged more than 300 students from top European universities. Since 2025, the university has initiated 15 YES projects for the US and Europe, covering various topics and involving over 700 students from 29 countries.

Zhang emphasized, the "university will continue to leverage its strengths, build cooperative platforms, and promote openness, presenting a multidimensional China to young people globally and fostering friendly exchanges".
