XJTU's iHarbour integrates energy conservation and emission education technologies
Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbour (iHarbour) is a smart academic town jointly built by Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and Fengxi New City of Xixian New Area, providing technological support for Fengxi New City to create a future-oriented green and smart city.
iHarbour's Yuanju Building has four floors, and the exterior facade is composed of exterior walls and translucent dark glass, with sunken courtyards and aerial connecting bridges. The decorative panels and glass of the exterior walls are all solar photovoltaic curtain walls, which not only provide protection, but also allow for green and low-carbon power generation, leading to self-sufficiency in daily office electricity.
The windows of Yuanju Building are equipped with sunshades and reflectors to obtain uniform natural lighting. The roofs can recover heat from photovoltaic backplanes, realizing the application of photovoltaic integration technology. The smart green energy system of the entire building covers an area of 2,750 square meters and has an annual power generation capacity of approximately 400,000 kilowatt-hours.
In addition, the integrated application of natural ventilation testing experiments, greenhouse effect experiments, peripheral envelope structure system experiments, fair-faced concrete exterior wall finishes, prefabricated interior wall systems, lighting energy conservation, and greening technology allow Yuanju Building to transform and utilize solar energy, geothermal energy, wind energy, and other natural energy sources.
