XJTU holds 2nd XJTU-XJTLU-UoL Doctoral Wisdom Convergence Camp

Nearly 300 experts and doctoral researchers from world-class institutions gather at the camp to showcase breakthrough research.
The Second XJTU-XJTLU-UoL Doctoral Wisdom Convergence Camp took place at iHarbour of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) from April 17 to 19.
The camp attracted approximately 300 experts, scholars, and doctoral student representatives from prestigious institutions, including the University of Liverpool (UoL), Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), Sichuan University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Rocket Force University of Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, and XJTU. The academic sessions featured 76 oral presentations and 147 poster displays showcasing cutting-edge research.
The opening ceremony and keynote forum were held on the morning of April 18. Professor Qi Li from XJTU explained how modern power electronic converter technology has made DC power transmission highly competitive and viable again.
Professor Xu Zhijie from XJTLU explored application paths and technical architectures for computer vision in 3D modeling, video indexing, and image analysis.
Professor Riaz Akhtar from UoL focused on vascular aging and aortic aneurysm screening, emphasizing that interdisciplinary cooperation is the key to advancing research and clinical transformation for vascular diseases.
The camp featured four thematic sub-forums organized by XJTU's respective colleges: smart power and energy interconnection, precision innovation and advanced manufacturing, information empowerment and digital intelligence, and life health and medical frontiers.
The camp concluded on the morning of April 19 with a closing ceremony featuring magic performances and songs by XJTU graduate students. The "Best Academic Poster" and "Best Oral Presentation" awards were presented to outstanding doctoral participants.
In the afternoon, participants toured key research platforms at iHarbour. Through these site visits, visiting doctoral students gained firsthand insight into XJTU's world-class research facilities and innovations, laying a practical foundation for future cross-university and interdisciplinary research collaborations.
