XJTU holds young envoy scholarship program for US students

Students from Indiana University participate in anexchange program at XJTU.

A delegation of 21 faculty members and students from Indiana University in the United States visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) to participate in the "cultural heritage and sustainable development" special exchange and study program from May 21 to 24.

During the program's opening ceremony on May 22, Chinese and US youth, guided by intangible cultural heritage inheritors, watched shadow puppetry performances, experienced performance techniques, and held discussions on puppet making, puppetry skills, and the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.

At the music center of the School of Humanities and Social Science, faculty and students participated in a traditional culture and guqin experience class under the guidance of Associate Professor Liang Rui.

They also visited the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Mechanical Fundamentals in the School of Mechanical Engineering and the Overseas Dispersed Chinese Cultural Relics Digital Engineering Laboratory, a joint project between XJTU and the University of Chicago.

At the Tin Ka Ping Art Building, the delegation visited the exhibition hall, which showcased the achievements of the digital project for dispersed Chinese art overseas. They examined digital scanning and reconstruction collaborations, which demonstrate China-US cooperation in the preservation of sustainable cultural heritage.

On May 23, the delegation visited the Xi'an Museum, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ming Great Wall, and the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site.

Upon concluding the program, the Chinese and US participants jointly signed a letter of commitment for the protection of cultural heritage and sustainable development, pledging to work together for the preservation and sustainable development of local and global heritage.
