XJTU strengthens role as Chinese Presidential Office of SCO University
XJTU discusses advancing SCO University collaboration through digital education and talent development.
Shan Zhiwei, vice-president of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and member of the Standing Committee of the CPC XJTU Committee, chaired a meeting on the work of the Chinese Presidential Office of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) University on May 18.
The meeting reviewed the university's participation in the 9th meeting of Ministers of Education of SCO Member States and its organization of the 2025 Annual Conference of SCO University. Discussions also centered on advancing integrated collaboration in education, technology, and talent development within the SCO framework.
On May 13, the 9th meeting of Ministers of Education of the SCO Member States convened in Urumqi. XJTU fulfilled its responsibilities in formulating and reporting key SCO University documents, including the SCO University Digital Education Development Plan and the activity plan for the 15th Education Week of the SCO Member States, "Education without Borders."
The SCO Digital Education Alliance and the China-SCO Doctoral Talent Cultivation and Innovation Center were also launched at the meeting. XJTU hosted the 2025 Annual Conference of SCO University, which fostered consensus on future development directions and created opportunities for collaboration among member institutions.
XJTU summarized the conference preparations and outlined follow-up action plans to ensure the implementation of outcomes, supporting the high-quality development of the SCO University.
Shan emphasized the need to improve the university's foreign affairs system, deepen its global development strategy, and coordinate the advancement of the SCO University and the "Silk-Road University Alliance."
He highlighted the acceleration of the Silk Road International College's construction, the development of all-English course systems, and the importance of mobilizing the schools' initiatives while utilizing think tanks to enhance international exchanges and cooperation.
