On May 14, Lu Jianjun, secretary of CPC Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), researched the university's international exchange and cooperation efforts and provided guidance on advancing its international collaboration initiatives. ‌

He emphasized the need to strengthen strategic leadership and enhance mission-driven responsibility to deepen the university's globalization strategy. This includes upgrading the "Silk Road University Alliance", accelerating the construction of the Silk Road International College, bolstering the functions of the Chinese Presidential Office of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, expanding international scientific and technological exchanges, and elevating the university's global influence.

The university should refine institutional mechanisms by establishing a "dual-list" management model based on traditional foreign affairs work. This approach prioritizes fulfilling foundational evaluation metrics and emphasizing practical outcomes that serve national strategies, ensuring a balance between quantity and quality. Cross-departmental task forces should also be formed to expand pathway research, create an "alumni+" global talent network, and enhance international exchange and cooperation.

Efforts must focus on attracting and nurturing talent to build a high-caliber faculty. This involves identifying overseas talent demands from enterprises, improving support mechanisms for international recruitment, constructing a multi-tiered system for global talent acquisition, and fostering a globally competitive talent pool to provide robust human resource support for the university's high-quality development.

With distinctive academic strengths as a breakthrough, the university should prioritize developing an internationalized curriculum system, advancing full-English course offerings, refining student overseas exchange programs, and optimizing international student recruitment mechanisms to continuously improve the quality of international student enrollment.

These steps aim to create a new hub for educational openness with XJTU's unique characteristics, contributing "Chinese solutions" and "XJTU wisdom" to global education.
