Xi'an Jiaotong University celebrates 2026 graduation with focus on service and innovation

On June 24, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held its 2026 Undergraduate Graduation and Degree Conferral Ceremony at Xingqing Campus, marking a significant milestone for 4,849 graduates, including 208 international students from 29 countries. This year coincides with the university's 130th anniversary and the 70th anniversary of its westward relocation, highlighting the enduring spirit of resilience and patriotism.

The graduating class demonstrated impressive development and employment outcomes, with many aligning their careers with national priorities. Graduates are increasingly choosing to serve in grassroots communities, western China, national defense, and key state institutions, reflecting a commitment to national strategies.

During the ceremony, XJTU honored 1,000 students as Outstanding Graduates and 261 as Outstanding Graduate Cadres. Special commendations were given to 37 graduates who took roles in western grassroots positions, defense sectors, or government programs.

In his keynote address, President Zhang Liqun urged graduates to embrace the Westward Relocation Spirit, emphasizing patriotism, innovation, and responsibility. He encouraged them to integrate personal dreams with national rejuvenation, pursue innovative solutions to academic and industrial challenges, and maintain independent thinking amid technological advancements.

XJTU's achievements in scientific innovation and international collaboration during the students' tenure were highlighted, with graduates playing a crucial role in the university's progress. Teachers, foreign faculty, and distinguished alumni delivered inspiring speeches, urging graduates to remain resilient, embrace a global perspective, and strive for excellence.

Student representatives shared their aspirations, with domestic graduates focusing on scientific research, national defense, and public welfare, while international students pledged to foster cross-border cooperation.

The ceremony concluded with the university anthem and the release of 2,026 peace doves, symbolizing bright futures for the graduates. The official degree conferral ceremony followed, sealing the graduates' readiness to embark on new journeys.
