Xi'an Jiaotong University celebrates global alumni conference for collaborative growth

Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held its Global Alumni High-Quality Development Summit on April 6 at the Siyuan Student Activity Center, Xingqing Campus. The event drew around 3,000 participants, including university leaders, distinguished alumni, faculty, students, and media representatives. Led by Bie Chaohong, executive vice president, the conference, focused on renewing friendships and fostering collaborative development.
The opening featured alumni organizations marching with flags, a video of shared memories, and the national anthem. Lu Jianjun, secretary of the XJTU Party Committee, welcomed attendees and reflected on the university's historic 1956 relocation, embodying the "Westward Relocation Spirit." He emphasized XJTU's commitment to global development and national strategies, particularly through the Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbor.
"Alumni are our most valuable asset," Lu stated, urging them to uphold the university's honor and contribute to national rejuvenation.

XJTU President Zhang Liqun highlighted the university's 130-year legacy of supporting national rejuvenation and integrating industry, university, and research to serve national strategies. He noted that alumni have founded or led over 10,000 enterprises, including more than 50 listed companies. Zhang emphasized XJTU as a lifelong family and invited alumni to visit often.
Shan Zhiwei, vice president, discussed XJTU's international achievements and encouraged alumni to revisit their formative years.
Distinguished alumni, including Liu Peng, Sun Laiyan, Zhang Yue'e, Ni Xiaofeng, and Fan Deng, expressed gratitude and aspirations for XJTU, highlighting its role in nurturing talent and fostering innovation.
The conference also featured a "Tribute to Teachers" segment and launched two education funds to support disciplinary development and talent cultivation at XJTU.
