XJTU's AI-powered practices receive national recognition

Xi'an Jiaotong University's (XJTU) "application of oral medicine craniofacial image analysis intelligent agent in teaching", led by Associate Chief Physician Qi Kun of the School of Stomatology, was recently selected as one of 30 exemplary cases of "Artificial Intelligence + Higher Education" application scenarios announced by the Ministry of Education.
This is yet another recognition from the Ministry of Education for XJTU's efforts in exploring "Artificial Intelligence + Higher Education" applications, following two previous selections as exemplary cases.
Only 10 universities nationwide have been selected as national exemplary cases three consecutive times, and all case introduction videos are promoted and displayed on the National Higher Education Smart Education Platform.
XJTU's case addresses the teaching challenges in oral medicine that require many real clinical cases to support student skill development. Associate Chief Physician Qi, collaborating with Professor Li Chen from the School of Computer Science, developed an oral image analysis algorithm and integrated it with XJTU's DeepEdu 1.0 AI platform to create an "Oral Medicine Craniofacial Image Analysis Intelligent Agent" that combines clinical and educational functions.
A comprehensive teaching case library has been established; an automatic positioning algorithm has been developed to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of student skills training; an AI-assisted diagnosis and prognosis prediction module has been introduced to help cultivate students' clinical diagnosis and treatment thinking; and, through the real-time interactive Q&A feature for professional knowledge, personalized companion-style learning support has been provided to students.
Additionally, by integrating the DeepSeek-R1 large language model, the case supports intelligent multilingual Q&A and interactions in English, Russian, and Persian. This addresses core teaching challenges faced by international student groups, promotes educational equity, and lays the foundation for applying these teaching methods internationally.
