Shaanxi-Wyoming friendship exchange week kicks off at XJTU
Students from XJTU and the University of Wyoming pose for a group during the exchange week.
The "Youth Friendly Exchange Week between Shaanxi Province and the State of Wyoming" and the "Xi'an Jiaotong University-University of Wyoming-Laramie High School Youth Envoys Scholarship Program (Hockey Week)" were held at Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) from June 28 to July 5.
The events commemorated the 10th anniversary of the sister-province relationship between Shaanxi and Wyoming.
On the morning of June 30, the Youth Friendship Exchange Week commenced at XJTU. Approximately 50 attendees, including the men's ice hockey team of the University of Wyoming and representatives of faculty and students from XJTU, participated in the opening ceremony.
During the ceremony, young people from both countries held a cultural gala. XJTU students showcased the cultural confidence of contemporary Chinese youth through Qinqiang Opera, folk music, and street dance. The University of Wyoming ice hockey team elevated the festive atmosphere with their performance of Should Have Been a Cowboy.
In the afternoon, the Wyoming delegation visited XJTU's sports center for table tennis and basketball friendship matches. Both sides held discussions on talent development, international competitions, sports training, and academic collaboration.
On the morning of July 2, the delegation attended the University of Wyoming–XJTU Youth Forum at iHarbour. Under the themes "technological innovation and sustainable development" and "cultural exchange and mutual learning," students shared practices and insights from their respective countries and personal experiences.
On July 4, the closing ceremony took place at XJTU. The ceremony concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between XJTU's sports center, the University of Wyoming ice hockey team, and Chuangju Ice Sports.
