A delegation from Politecnico di Milano visits XJTU.

Donatella Sciuto, rector of Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI), led a delegation to visit Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) from Aug 30 to 31.

Lu Jianjun, Secretary of CPC XJTU Committee, Bie Chaohong, executive vice-president, and Zhang Liqun, president of XJTU, met with the delegation.

Lu welcomed the delegation and expressed hope that the two universities would further expand collaboration in technological innovation and talent cultivation while accelerating industry-education integration with enterprises. Lu also invited POLIMI to jointly establish the Silk Road International College.

Sciuto spoke highly of the two universities' collaborative history, conveying her expectation to strengthen cooperation in PhD programs and scientific research.

Bie reviewed the history of collaboration between the two universities and emphasized the potential for further cooperation in engineering projects, mainly through the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School of Design and Innovation.

During the meeting, Zhang acknowledged POLIMI's academic excellence and anticipated further joint achievements in educational programs and collaborations between academia and industry.

During the visit, the delegation toured the Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbor, gaining insight into the XJTU's model of integrating academia, industry, and research. They also held discussions with heads of relevant schools and departments. The two parties also signed a new memorandum of cooperation.

POLIMI, home to Europe's first electronic computing center, boasts Europe’s largest wind tunnel laboratory and one of Europe’s largest ICT departments, with over 30 IEEE/ACM Fellows. Its startup incubator, Polihub, ranks among the top three globally.
