XJTU holds a high-quality development conference on the intersection of aeronautics and oceanography.

Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held a development conference on the intersection of aeronautics and oceanography at iHarbour on Sept 24, unveiling the Basic Science Research Center for Aero-Engine Structural Safety, the School of Aero-Engines, and the School of Marine Science and Engineering.

Wu Guosheng, secretary of the CPC XJTU Committee, said the research center and the School of Aero-Engines should work in tandem to strengthen basic research and jointly tackle critical aviation technologies, while the School of Marine Science and Engineering should focus on the nation's maritime strategy, break through technological bottlenecks in cross-disciplinary fields, and establish a benchmark for industry-education integration in western China.

Specialized seminars on aerospace propulsion and marine cross-disciplinary research were also held, where academicians and experts discussed topics related to aerospace propulsion structural safety and marine science.

To mark the establishment of the two new schools, 50 organizations and prominent scholars extended warm congratulations through on-site attendance, video messages, and congratulatory letters.

The School of Aero-Engines brings together five academicians and 15 national-level leading talents, focusing on areas such as combined propulsion, hybrid-electric systems, structural strength, and material manufacturing across nearly 10 disciplines.

The School of Marine Science and Engineering gathers three academicians and 23 national-level leading talents who have long specialized in marine research, focusing on marine energy resource development, deep-sea equipment and exploration, and marine embodied artificial intelligence.
