Scholars and industry representatives discuss frontier theories in operations management at the 2026 POMS conference.

The 2026 Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) International Conference in China, hosted by Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and co-organized by Tianjin University, Zhejiang University, and the University of Science and Technology of China, was recently held in Xi'an, Shaanxi province.

The conference aimed to explore collaboration among humans, AI, and machines, while committing to building a safe, reliable, socially responsible, and sustainable development environment.

The conference organized eight keynote and special presentations, inviting top-tier academic and industry experts to share cutting-edge achievements covering both theoretical and industrial dimensions.

The conference also featured a Production and Operations Management (POM) journal editors forum. Subodha Kumar, executive editor of POM and a professor at Temple University; Tony Haitao Cui, department editor of POM; and five senior editors interacted with authors regarding the journal's development direction, paper submission guidelines, and research methodologies.

Academic activities were also held, including a deans' forum, a young scholars forum, and an entrepreneurs' forum.

As the most influential international academic organization in production and operations management, the POMS has been dedicated to promoting global academic research and practical innovation since its inception.

Tianjin University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, and the University of Science and Technology of China initiated the POMS International Conference in China in 2018, following authorization and approval by the POMS Board of Directors.
