Sino-US youth music exchange event enthralls Xi'an
The One Voice Choir from the US, invited by the China Education International Exchange Association, brought cultural vibrancy to Xi'an, initiating a youth dialogue at the Silk Road's starting point.
Themed "It's great to know you," the event on July 7 at Xi'an Jiaotong University Affiliated Middle School attracted nearly a thousand attendees, including students, educators, and officials from Shaanxi province and the university.
Performances by both choirs showcased cultural richness. The university choir's renditions of "Listen with the Ear" and "Youth Never Rests" captured the audience, while the One Voice choir's emotive performances of "As You Wish" and "Kids Inside" transcended borders.
The unity of teenagers from both nations singing "Try Everything," the event's theme song, "It's great to know you," created a jubilant atmosphere. After the event, the visiting teachers and their students embarked on an immersive journey into Chinese civilization, exploring cultural sites with the university students.
This event, blending music and culture, aims to deepen US youth's understanding of China. It is part of China's initiative to host 50,000 US teenagers for exchange over five years, fostering cross-Pacific dialogue and lasting friendships between Chinese and American youth.
The event, hosted by the China Education International Exchange Association and organized by the Shaanxi Education International Exchange Association, received substantial support from Shaanxi's Department of Education and Culture and Tourism Department. Future editions will rotate across different Chinese cities, continuing to promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
