Xi'an Jiaotong Universtiy (XJTU) initiated a plan to develop engineering disciplines with higher education institutions of Central Eastern European countries(CEEC) at the seventh meeting of the China-CEEC Higher Education Institutions Consortium on Dec 2.

The initiative is meant to strengthen bilateral ties in talent training and scientific research.
By building a cooperative platform, Xi Guang, vice-president of XJTU, said he hopes to solidify ties between XJTU and CEEC universities, with a focus on development of engineering disciplines that overlook the frontiers of world science and technology.
XJTU has already collaborated with universities in countries such as Poland, Greece, Romania, Serbia and the Czech Republic, and is looking forward to joining in more training programs.
Liu Limin, president of the China Education Association for International Exchange, Fang Jun, deputy head of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) of the Ministry of Education, and H.E. Vladimír Tomšík, ambassador of the Czech Republic to China, participated in the online meeting.
