XJTU Researchers Develop New Type of Bioactive Dressing

Guo Baolin and Qiu Yusheng, professors of XJTU, first reported that they have developed a new type of bioactive dressing that is hydrogel-injectable with self-healing capacity and high adhesive force. The in-situ gelation and the tissue adhesion property of this hydrogel can quickly seal wounds of any shape, bonding with the wound’s edge, providing a physical barrier against contaminants for the wound, and simulating a moist skin condition. This reflects a great potential of the hydrogel as a bioactive dressing in wound healing treatment.  

   

The above results were published on the journal Biomaterials entitled “Antibacterial anti-oxidant electroactive injectable hydrogel as self-healing wound dressing with hemostasis and adhesiveness for cutaneous wound healing. PhD candidates Zhao Xin and Wu Hao jointly authored the article with others.
