International students from SCO member states gather at XJTU for a week of sports and cultural exchange.

The Youth Sports and Cultural Exchange Camp of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) University was recently held at Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Fourteen students from SCO member states, including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, gathered in Xi'an for a week of athletic and cultural exchange.

During the seven-day camp, participants experienced traditional Chinese sports, including dragon and lion dancing, dragon boating, and martial arts, alongside modern favorites like frisbee and table tennis.

The students also toured top-tier local enterprises to gain firsthand insight into China's industrial development and innovation. To experience the rich heritage of the millennial capital and the local customs of Shaanxi province, they visited iconic historical landmarks, including the Terracotta Army and Yuanjia village. Additionally, they attended Chinese language classes, discovering the beauty and depth of Chinese culture through fun, immersive learning.

The SCO University is a key educational cooperation mechanism within the SCO framework, dedicated to promoting collaboration in higher education and talent exchange among member states. Hosting this inaugural youth exchange camp is not only a practical step by the XJTU's School of Physical Education to advance the university's vision and international profile, but also a demonstration of the Belt and Road Initiative in action, fostering mutual learning and cultural exchange among civilizations.
