Xi'an Jiaotong University hosts second "130th Anniversary Love Accompanying" donation ceremony

On Feb 8, Xi'an Jiaotong University held its second "130th Anniversary Love Accompanying" donation ceremony at the Xingqing Campus, raising a total of 106 million yuan ($15.30 million).

The event was attended by notable figures such as Academician Hou Xun, University President Zhang Liqun, and other university leaders. Corporate representatives included Wang Ye from Haier Group and Zhu Wenyin from Haier Technology Development Foundation, among others. The ceremony was hosted by Deputy Secretary Wang Huan.

Vice President Shan Zhiwei highlighted the tradition of alumni and social support for the university's development, emphasizing the importance of social donations in evaluating a university's impact and supporting its growth.

Significant contributions included 12 million yuan from Haier Group for technological advancements and talent recruitment, and 13.65 million yuan from Shenzhen Tuozhu Technology Co., Ltd. for scholarships and student innovation. Other donors included Wang Jianzhong and Mingjian Electronics, with an anonymous alumni donation of 1.1 million yuan to the "Yao Xi Fund".

By the ceremony day, faculty and staff donations exceeded 75 million yuan, supporting infrastructure and academic development. Faculty research teams also actively participated, demonstrating their commitment to the university.

The ceremony featured an equity donation segment, with professors and corporate leaders donating shares to support the university's growth. Additionally, the Education Foundation donated 1.6 million yuan to Ankang City's Pingli County for road construction.

President Zhang Liqun expressed deep gratitude to all donors, highlighting that each contribution not only provides material support but also represents trust and passion for education. He called on the university community to unite in building a world-class institution and contribute to national educational goals.

The ceremony concluded in a warm and powerful atmosphere, with donations fueling the university's high-quality development and its mission to serve the nation and reach the world.
