Xi'an Jiaotong University welcomes freshmen with inspiring opening ceremony
On September 7, Xi'an Jiaotong University, located in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, welcomed 6,901 new undergraduates. These students, hailing from across China, bring fresh energy and aspirations as they begin their academic journey.
During the opening ceremony, Lu Jianjun, the university's Party Committee secretary spoke about the recent 80th anniversary commemoration of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. He expressed the pride in China's progress and highlighted the nation's unstoppable momentum towards rejuvenation.
Lu underscored the importance of education, technology, and talent in nation-building, noting that while these goals are a decade away, students are at a crucial juncture at the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan. He urged them to carry forward the legacy and contribute to the nation's strength.
Zhang Liqun, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, encouraged students to align their personal aspirations with the grand vision of national rejuvenation and global peace. He urged them to make the most of their college years by building a solid foundation of knowledge, fostering innovation, engaging with laboratories and enterprises, and tackling cutting-edge challenges.
Zhang advised students to manage their time wisely, leverage advanced technologies, and strengthen their spirit, willpower, and character through exercise and labor."With the rapid advancement of technology and the deepening integration of disciplines, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence, new opportunities and innovation paths are emerging.
