The China-SCO Higher Education Cooperation Center is jointly launched by XJTU and the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government.

The inauguration ceremony of the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Higher Education/Vocational Education Cooperation Center was held in Tianjin on Sept 2.

At the ceremony, Zhang Liqun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), stated that XJTU, as the leading university in preparing for the center and a bridge connecting SCO countries for educational cooperation and cultural exchanges, feels a great responsibility and a glorious mission.

In the future, XJTU will focus on the economic and social development needs of SCO countries. It will build a high-level international education cooperation platform integrating talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, cultural exchanges, think tank construction, and industry-education integration by deepening joint talent cultivation, strengthening teacher development and scientific research cooperation, building high-end think tanks, and promoting digital education cooperation.

Subsequently, the unveiling ceremony of the center was held in iHarbour, Xi'an. The "Construction Plan for China-SCO Higher Education Cooperation Center" was released at the ceremony, along with the SCO International Summer School Project, the SCO National Excellent Engineering Talent Training Program and Evaluation Standard Research Project, the SCO Excellent Talent Overseas Internship Program, the SCO International Curriculum System Construction Project, the SCO University Student Affairs Development Forum Project, and the "SCO Countries Cultural Education Publishing Alliance" Initiative Project.

The China-SCO Higher Education Cooperation Center was jointly built by XJTU and the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government under the guidance and support of the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As an important platform supporting the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent, and serving the economic and social development of SCO countries, the center will focus on key tasks and goals such as regional research and education governance, talent gathering and teacher development, talent cultivation and digital education, and scientific and technological cooperation and industry-education integration.

It will embrace the wave of internationalization of education with a more open attitude, promote people-to-people connectivity through educational cooperation, drive innovation and development through joint talent training, and lead through wisdom.
