The 2025 Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot (FDI Moot) Asia-Pacific Regional Round recently concluded.

The Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) Law School team stood out, winning the runner-up position and qualifying for the global finals, which are set to be held in Boston, USA, at the end of October.

From July 19 to 20, the 2025 FDI Moot domestic online competition was held, with a total of 44 teams participating. In the group stage round robin, the XJTU team faced teams from Peking University, University of International Business and Economics, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, and Sichuan University, advancing to the offline knockout stage with an excellent record of three wins in four matches.

In the knockout stage, the XJTU team defeated the China-Europe School of Law of China University of Political Science and Law to win the national second prize, qualifying for the Asia-Pacific competition.

The 2025 FDI Moot Asia-Pacific competition was held from Aug 1 to 3. The XJTU team performed steadily in the group stage against strong teams from Vietnam, Mongolia, Malaysia, and other countries, advancing as the first in the group. In the semi-finals, it defeated Nankai University to advance to the finals.

The team invited Maciej Zenkiewicz, an associate professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Poland, to serve as a remote instructor.

As one of the world's three major moot court competitions, the FDI Moot enjoys the highest reputation in the field of international investment law and arbitration. It requires participants to have solid knowledge of international investment law, and poses a test of the ability to sort out, analyze, and refine massive amounts of facts.

It also has strict standards for high-quality English courtroom debate expressions, and is a high-level competition platform for testing the all-round capabilities of future international lawyers in legal retrieval, logical reasoning, impromptu response, and language control.
