Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held its Xi'an alumni spring tea gathering on March 1, bringing together over 200 attendees, including university leaders and alumni from various sectors in Xi'an.
During the event, XJTU president and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Zhang Liqun praised the strong support alumni have shown for the university.
He emphasized that alumni insights and suggestions serve as a vital source of inspiration for the university, while the deep integration of industry, academia, and research lays a solid foundation for its future.
Zhang highlighted that alumni achievements are a key measure of the university's success and encouraged alumni to continue striving in their respective fields while staying aligned with their alma mater. He also called on the Xi'an Alumni Association to collaborate with other alumni associations, develop standardized action plans, create new alumni-focused events, and enhance the value and impact of the alumni network.
Alumni from diverse industries shared their thoughts on XJTU's development, university-enterprise cooperation, technological innovation, and talent cultivation, offering valuable suggestions.
The gathering also featured signing and plaque unveiling ceremonies for university-alumni collaboration projects. Alumni enterprises, including XJTU 1896 and Chang'an Huitong, joined forces with listed companies such as Actionpower, Sinexcel, and Shaanxi Lighte Optoelectronics Material Co to launch the "Pioneer Co-Creation Technology Achievement Commercialization Fund".
The School of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Electrical Engineering partnered with Actionpower to establish the "Advanced Plasma Surface Technology and Equipment Joint Laboratory". Additionally, the Micro/Nano Scale Materials Behavior Research Center of the School of Materials Science and Engineering collaborated with Xi'an XICE Testing Technology Co to co-found the Equipment Hospital Research Institute. The Xi'an Alumni Association also donated a 3-million-yuan ($413,400) scholarship to support XJTU's "Everest Program".
