On Chinese New Year's Eve, which fell on Jan 28 this year, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held its 2025 Spring Festival parties at both its Xingqing Campus and the Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbour (iHarbour).
University leaderships joined students and faculty who remained on campus to celebrate the new year, share a festive lunch, and look forward to a bright future together.
At Kangqiaoyuan Canteen on the Xingqing Campus, Zhang Liqun, president of XJTU, extended heartfelt New Year greetings to students, faculty, and staff who were unable to reunite with their families for this momentous occasion. He emphasized that the university is a welcoming home for all, especially in this season of hope and dreams. Reflecting on the past year, he praised the resilience and dedication of the XJTU community in overcoming challenges and encouraged everyone to keep pursuing their dreams with determination in the new year. The university, he assured them, will continue to provide unwavering support.
The celebration featured sugar-figure blowing, ring tossing, pitch-pot, lantern riddles, and lively performances, immersing everyone in the charm of traditional Chinese culture. To ensure a heartwarming holiday for students staying on campus, the university also prepared an array of snacks, drinks, three-dimensional red envelopes, new year meal vouchers, and red scarves.
Meruyert Kalimzhanova, an international student from Kazakhstan at the School of Management, shared her excitement, "This is my first time celebrating Spring Festival in China. I'm truly grateful to XJTU for this wonderful experience, which has given me unforgettable memories and brought me so much joy."
