The "Patriotic Struggle, Pursuit of Excellence" Student Commendation Award and Style Exhibition Conference for the 2023-2024 academic year of Xi'an Jiaotong University was held on Dec 18 at the school’s Siyuan Student Activity Center.

In the academic year 2023-2024, Xi'an Jiaotong University celebrated the achievements of its students. A total of 596 undergraduate students were honored with the National Undergraduate Scholarship while 748 undergraduate students were recognized with the National Inspirational Scholarship. Additionally, 472 master's students and 294 doctoral students were awarded the National Scholarship for Graduate Studies, including 9 graduate students who received the prestigious National Scholarship for National Defense Science and Technology, and another 9 graduate students received the National Scholarship for Urgent High level Talent Training and Engineering Master's and Doctoral Programs.

During the academic year 2023-2024, Wang Huan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Xi'an Jiaotong University, presented a comprehensive overview of the commendations and reward at the university .

In his address, Wang Huan encouraged the students to aspire to contribute their youthful energy to the great cause of promoting the construction of a strong country and national rejuvenation.

Students from Xi'an Jiaotong University have actively engaged the military service making significant contributions to the national defense. Notably, 17 retired soldiers who returned to school in 2024 were honored with the compulsory military service award.

The conference officially released the "AI Counselor of Xi'an Jiaotong University", which empowers daily management with artificial intelligence and provides personalized, convenient, and online tutoring services enabling students to love and focus on their growth and development.

This year, the university has honored 10 exceptional "My Favorite Counselors" and bestowed 5 "My Favorite Counselor Nomination Awards". These individuals have always been diligent and dedicated, providing guidance like a spring breeze and rain to nourish students' hearts and illuminate their path forward.

In the academic year 2023-2024, 176 classes of the university were awarded the titles of Civilized Class for Undergraduate Students, Excellent Class for Academic Style, and Excellent Class for Physical Education Standards, while 68 graduate classes were awarded the title of "Civilized Class Collective"; 10 undergraduate dormitories awarded the title of Civilized Dormitory Model, and 90 graduate student apartments received the title of "Civilized Demonstration Apartments".

This year, the school has offered more than 210 elective courses in 8 categories, including greening maintenance, first aid, cooking and baking, water and electricity maintenance. A total of 14,633 students registered to participate, and more than 200 frontline employees from various departments such as food, property, energy, and the school hospital also participated.

Wang Ruichen, a graduate student from the School of Mechanical Engineering at the university, shared his in-depth research in the field of battery cascade utilization and his experience participating in the "Challenge Cup".

Under the guidance of his mentor, Wang Ruichen led the team to integrate battery degradation mechanisms and data-driven algorithms, creating a million-level retired battery database and a machine electric thermal coupling digital twin model, significantly improving detection efficiency, resulting the project to ultimately win the "Challenge Cup" gold medal.

This commendation conference is not only a recognition and commendation of outstanding students and collectives in the past year, but also an encouragement and inspiration for all students in the school.

Zhang Liqun, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University and academician of the CAE Member, sincerely congratulated the advanced collectives and teachers and students who were honored at the conference.
