XJTU delegation visits Central-Asian universities
Hong attends the fifth anniversary celebration of Astana Information and Technology University.

A delegation from Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), led by Hong Jun, vice-president of XJTU, visited eight universities in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, where it engaged in various exchanges activities from May 15 to 21.
On May 15, Hong was invited to attend the fifth anniversary celebration of Astana Information and Technology University and had a meeting with the university's first vice-rector – Serik Omirbayev.
During the meeting, Hong extended warm congratulations to the university and expressed his best wishes for its future development. The two sides discussed ways to expand international student exchanges and research cooperation among faculty.
On May 17, the delegation visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KAZNU) and held the "XJTU-KAZNU Strategic Partnership Launch Ceremony", strengthening their inter-university partnership.
During the visit to Satbayev University and Tashkent State Technical University, the delegation focused on discussing exchanges and cooperation in the fields of machinery, energy, and electrical engineering and invited the relevant universities to attend the "China-Central Asia Engineering Science and Education Forum" to be held in October this year.
On May 18, the delegation visited the International University of Kyrgyzstan (IUK). Aidaraliev Arsen Asylbekovich, president of IUK, briefly introduced the current state of higher education in Kyrgyzstan and the situation at the university, expressing hopes of establishing a "Silk Road Research Center" at the university.
On May 19, the delegation visited Bukhara State Medical Institute (BSMI) and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the institute. Laziz N. Niyazov, vice rector for international cooperation of BSMI, welcomed the delegation and introduced the university and its research collaboration efforts. He stated that as the best medical university in Uzbekistan, Bukhara State Medical Institute is keen to actively engage in medical cooperation and exchanges with Chinese universities.
Hong also briefed on XJTU's overview and expressed anticipation for deeper cooperation in medical disciplines, related medical fields, and interdisciplinary areas between medicine and engineering.
During the visit, Hong, on behalf of XJTU, signed international undergraduate program partner school agreements with four middle schools and awarded plaques to the six newly-added international student recruitment bases. This was intended to attract more outstanding international students to study in China.
