XJTU participates in Deans Forum on China Excellent Engineer Training

The first Deans Forum on China Excellent Engineer Training takes place on Jan 20-21.

To promote the integration of industry and education and expedite the training of outstanding engineers, the first Deans Forum on China Excellent Engineer Training took place at the Hangzhou International Campus Conference Center of Beihang University on Jan 20-21.

The event was organized by the Chinese Union for Training Excellent Engineers and jointly hosted by Beihang University and Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

Wang Yunpeng, academician and president of Beihang University, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the organizing unit, while Zhu Xiumei, deputy director of the Personnel and Education Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and representatives of four national outstanding engineering colleges also gave speeches.

The representatives of the first and second batches of national outstanding engineering colleges and national outstanding engineering innovation and research institutes spoke in turn. They shared their experiences and reflections on cultivating outstanding engineers from various perspectives, such as school-enterprise collaboration, on-site practical training, and graduation evaluation, contributing to the in-depth promotion of reforms in cultivating outstanding engineers.

Hong Jun, vice-president of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), said in his speech that so far, the School of Outstanding Engineers at XJTU has admitted 442 doctoral and master's students. They have selected 282 on-campus mentors and 215 enterprise mentors.

Through collaboration between the university and enterprises, they have jointly developed nearly 100 specialized training programs combining various engineering categories and fields. They have also established 22 new courses for practical training in engineering disciplines and built five engineer technology centers led by academicians.
