A delegation from University of Liverpool, led by Tariq Ali, pro-vice-chancellor of University of Liverpool, visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on Jan 19. Wang Shuguo, president of XJTU, met with the delegation.

Discussions on deepening collaboration between the two universities and strengthening scientific research in relevant academic fields took place, with Xi Guang, vice-president attending the meeting.

Wang offered a warm welcome to the visitors and introduced the concept and development of XJTU's Innovation Harbour, as well as the university's future development plans.

He said that the two universities have a solid foundation for cooperation and expressed hope that in the future they will engage in more extensive collaboration to provide more opportunities for the growth and learning of young people.

Tariq said that XJTU is seen as an important partner of the University of Liverpool, and the two universities share similar views on the social responsibility of universities. He also said he looked forward to discussing further strategic collaboration between the two universities during the visit.

Xi Guang extended an invitation to the University of Liverpool, a standing member of the University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR), to become the next rotating chair and host the UASR Presidents Forum.
