Bie Zhaohong, executive vice president of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), was invited to the 13th China-Japan University Presidents Forum, which was held in Hiroshima on Nov 27-Dec 1, where she delivered a speech.

This year's forum, hosted by Hiroshima University, saw the participation of approximately 160 representatives from 18 Chinese universities.

The list included Peking University, Zhejiang University, and XJTU, as well as 19 Japanese universities such as the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, and Osaka University, as well as some Japanese organizations.

Wu Jianghao, Chinese Ambassador to Japan, and Xue Jian, Consul General in Osaka, also attended the event.

During the meeting, representatives engaged in discussions on the theme "Diversity and Integration – Talent and Higher Education for the Future".

They shared experiences and thoughts on topics such as "The Application of Information Technology in University Education" and "Global Challenges Arising from Climate Change."

A broad consensus was reached on specific issues, including strengthening talent development in Sino-Japanese universities and enhancing collaboration in science and technology innovation.

In her speech, Bie Zhaohong introduced how XJTU leverages the "University Alliance of the Silk Road" platform, utilizing the alliance's sharing mechanism to engage in specific practices and practical experiences related to inter-university cooperation in addressing climate change.

She extended an invitation to the participating universities, welcoming them to join the alliance for collaborative discussions.

The forum jointly initiated by Peking University and the University of Tokyo in 2000 is held biennially and serves as the most important exchange mechanism between Chinese and Japanese universities.

XJTU hosted the fourth edition of the forum in 2006.

During this visit, Bie Zhaohong and the XJTU delegation also participated in the "Xi'an Jiaotong University Young Scholars Forum (Tokyo Station)" held in Tokyo.
