A research team from Xi'an Jiaotong University based in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, led by Professor Wang Minqiang from the university's School of Electronics and in collaboration with Professor Yang Guanjun from the university's School of Materials and associate Professor Wan Chunlei from the School of Materials at Tsinghua University, has made significant progress in the field of thermoelectric semiconductor materials.

In order to address major challenges such as low thermoelectric properties and poor air stability in n-type organic thermoelectric materials, the joint research team has spent three years designing and producing three new n-type charge transfer complex thermoelectric materials. These materials have surpassed multiple world records in terms of power factor and thermoelectric performance as well as overcome the bottleneck of poor air stability in n-type organic thermoelectric materials.

The research findings have been published in prestigious scientific journals under Cell Press, including Joule, Cell Reports Physical Science, and Journal of Materials Chemistry A, which is under the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The breakthroughs in thermoelectric semiconductor materials achieved by the research team are of great significance. With the development of thermoelectric technology, these materials have the potential to significantly enhance the conversion efficiency of waste heat into usable electricity, paving the way for more energy-efficient and sustainable applications.
