A delegation led by Tilektes Adambekov, a member of the lower house of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on July 31. Xi Guang, vice president of XJTU, met with the delegation.

Representatives from the Xi'an Municipal Party Committee's Foreign Affairs Office, XJTU's Office of International Affairs, International Education College, School of Economics and Finance, School of Marxism, Youth League Committee, and National Technology Transfer Center participated in the meeting.

Xi warmly welcomed Tilektes and his delegation. He emphasized the history, academic disciplines, campus development, enrollment figures, and international education status of XJTU.

In 2015, XJTU initiated the establishment of the "Silk Road University Alliance," which now boasts over 160 member universities, he added.

He also expressed hope for enhancing collaboration through more face-to-face interactions and discussions about further cooperation opportunities.

Tilektes expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from the university. He said that since the China-Central Asia Summit, cooperation between China and Kazakhstan has become increasingly close.

XJTU, a renowned Chinese institution of higher education, makes him excited for further exchanges with the university. Cooperation will particularly focus on areas such as cultivating young talent, conducting research on China-Central Asia collaboration, and building think tanks.

After the meeting, representatives from both sides furthered discussed topics such as international student education, Sino-Kazakhstan economic and trade cooperation, industry-education integration, youth talent cultivation, and think tank establishment, and reached preliminary agreements on cooperation in these areas.
