A delegation led by Shan Wenhua, assistant president of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and dean of the Law School, recently visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) and signed an agreement to establish the China-Central Asia Joint Research Center for Rule of Law (the Center).

During the visit, the two parties engaged in in-depth discussions regarding strengthening the collaborative relationship between the two universities as well as initiating joint scientific research and talent development activities in the field of law.

Z. Tuimebayev, president of KazNU, stated during the signing ceremony that XJTU, as one of China's most influential universities, is a highly-valued and esteemed partner for Kazakhstan.

Using the China-Central Asia Summit as an opportunity and leveraging the establishment of a joint research center, both parties are looking forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation in various disciplines, including law, and contributing to the construction of a China-Central Asia community with a shared future, he added.

Shan introduced XJTU, highlighting the university’s strengths in the field of law and the development of the New Silk Road Law Schools Alliance.

He also expressed similar hopes that both parties will deepen cooperation and contribute to the construction of a China-Central Asia community with a shared future.

According to the agreement, the Center aims to establish an internationally-leading cooperative platform for academic research, talent development, and social services in the field of rule of law between China and Central Asia. Both parties will share academic resources, engage in comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in student and faculty exchanges, joint research, legal investigation, and more.

The establishment of the Center is a significant initiative by XJTU and KazNU to adhere to the spirit of the China-Central Asia Summit.

During the visit, the delegation also visited the Constitutional Court of Kazakhstan. Both sides were engaged in in-depth discussions on cooperation in talent development and scientific research, as well as ways to support and participate in the activities of the center, reaching an important consensus.
