XJTU strengthens international collaboration with Italy visit
Xi Guang, vice-president of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) led a delegation to Italy from June 14 to 16. Their visit aimed to expand international cooperation in talent development and foster partnerships among enterprises, universities and research institutes within the framework of the University Alliance of the Silk Road, initiated by XJTU in 2015.
A pivotal event took place on June 15 with the Second Joint Management Committee Meeting of the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School of Design and Innovation.
The meeting, held simultaneously at Politecnico di Milano and Xi'an Jiaotong University, featured online and offline participation. Attendees included POLIMI President Donatella Sciuto, Vice-President Giuliano Noci, as well as XJTU Vice-Presidents, including Xi, Bie Zhaohong, and Hong Jun.

From June 14 to 15, the delegation, accompanied by Sergio Amedeo Pignari, executive deputy dean of the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School of Design and Innovation, visited various laboratories at Politecnico di Milano.
They looked into areas such as industrial and fashion design, wind tunnel testing, and mechanical engineering.
In addition, they visited the renowned Pirelli Group, an Italian enterprise specializing in tire production.
The delegation introduced the annual plans of the University Alliance of the Silk Road and discussed potential collaboration.

On June 16, the delegation proceeded to Politecnico di Torino. They engaged in fruitful discussions with Michele Bonino, representative of the university president, and representatives from various departments such as mechanical and aerospace engineering, telecommunications and electronics, and international affairs. The exchange encompassed a comprehensive review of their extensive collaboration spanning over two decades, an update on the cooperative framework agreement, discussions on joint training programs, and deliberations on the annual activities of the University Alliance of the Silk Road.
During their visit to Politecnico di Torino, Xi also met with XJTU students participating in the joint doctoral training program at the university, extending a personal touch to their educational journey.
On the afternoon of June 16, the delegation arrived at the University of Pavia, where they were warmly welcomed by Antenella Forlino, vice-president in charge of international relations. Accompanied by representatives from various departments such as mechanical engineering, life sciences, and international affairs, the delegation explored the university's captivating physics and life sciences museum.
The visit served as a significant milestone in strengthening international collaboration for XJTU. It showcased its dedication to fostering partnerships, sharing knowledge, and creating a global impact in the academic and industrial spheres.
