A dance titled "The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting" by Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) won a gold medal at the 2022 Sino-Russian College Student Art Festival.

The event was held online and on site in Saint Petersburg of Russia under the guidance of China's Ministry of Education and Russia's Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

XJTU and six other Chinese universities brought their artistic shows to the event.

The award-winning dance was inspired by A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains, a well-known painting created by artist Wang Ximeng of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). It was presented by 13 dancers who underwent training and rehearsal for 90 hours.

A chorus of Ural Rowan Tree, which is known as Thorntree in China, by six students of the university was conferred with an outstanding award. Ural Rowan Tree is a love song of the former Soviet Union and depicts the lives and loves of young people at factories.

XJTU earned an award for its excellent organization as well. It was the second time that XJTU has won a gold medal at the event.
