A research team led by Professor Ding Shujiang at School of Chemistry, Xi'an Jiaotong University, has proposed a novel integration strategy for building advanced all-solid-state batteries.

With efficient ion utilization, Li||PVF batteries, a kind compatible with common solid electrolytes, have showcased excellent rate performance using this strategy.

This effect can be achieved because the team used the anion acceptor material- polyvinyl ferrocene as the positive electrode, and the ferrocene unit on the polymer chain promotes Li+ and anion to act as an effective charge carrier.

Based on this research, this new idea provides potential for the design and construction of advanced solid polymer batteries.

Research results were published in papers titled Expanding the active charge carriers of polymer electrolytes in lithium-based batteries using an anion-hosting cathode in Nature Communications, an open access journal that publishes high-quality research from all areas of the natural sciences.

Ding's team are devoted to the design and application of ion-conducting polymers.
