Innovative platform for energy storage technology launches at iHarbour
The National Energy Storage Technology Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform was launched on Feb 23 at iHarbour, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU).
At the same time as the launch, a summit meeting was held for serving the goals of peaking CO2 emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
Wang Shuguo, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), delivers a speech at the summit on Feb 23.
In his speech, XJTU President Wang Shuguo pointed out that the energy revolution is related to the sustainable development of the world in the future, and more importantly, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Wang said he believes that constructing the energy storage platform can solve the problem of energy technology innovation. He said he hopes that schools, governments, and enterprises can join hands to gather wisdom and strength, and jointly contribute to the in-depth promotion of the energy revolution, the construction of an energy-powerful country, and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
He Yaling, director of the National Energy Storage Technology Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform, explains the construction plan at the summit on Feb 23.
XJTU Professor He Yaling, the director of the platform, said the university has carried out systematical layouts, such as those pertaining to thermal mass energy storage, electromagnetic and chemical energy storage, hydrogen energy storage, and energy storage systems.
She said she hopes that more enterprises can actively participate in the co-construction and sharing of the platform and make joint contributions to realize the "dual carbon" targets with joint efforts.
The platform implements an operating mechanism of multi-subject co-construction, multi-channel investment, multi-form sharing, and multi-stage connection. It will also coordinate the resources of government, universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises, provide policies, services hardware and software, cultivate innovative high-level top-notch talents in energy storage at multiple academic levels, and carry out technical research to solve core problems.
The university said it will promote the construction of relevant disciplines and the stable and lasting operation of the platform in a win-win, mutually beneficial manner, provide a new paradigm for the integration of industry and education, collaborative education and technological innovation, and promote the development of energy storage technology and the transformation and upgrading of the energy industry structure so as to contribute to China's energy revolution.
