XJTU professor wins renowned international chemistry award
The certificate for Guo's Thieme Chemistry Journals Award
Guo Wusheng, a professor at the Frontier Institute of Science and Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) won the Thieme Chemistry Journals Award, an international honor for talented chemists.
Guo Wusheng, a professor at the Frontier Institute of Science and Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU)
Guo graduated from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona with a PhD degree in 2014 and specializes in the development and research of hybrid silicon and hypervalent iodine heterogeneous catalysts. He joined the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) in Spain as a postdoctoral fellow, specializing in research on the activation and utilization of CO2.
He joined XJTU in 2018 and was selected for the National Youth Talent Program in 2019. Currently, he leads a team that is engaged in asymmetric synthesis, metal-organic and small molecule catalysis research and provides solutions for the efficient synthesis of drug intermediates and the preparation of high-performance functional materials.
He has published more than 40 research papers in international academic journals such as the Journal of the American Chemical Society and Angewandte Chemie International Edition. He holds three authorized patents.
This year, 79 people worldwide received this honor.
The award, which has been given since 1999, is intended to recognize and encourage new generations of organic chemists.
Winners of the award are selected globally by the academic editorial boards of the three major chemical journals Synthesis, Synlett and Synfacts under the German Thieme database.
