XJTU professor rewarded for science and technology achievements
Sun Jian, a professor at the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), receives an award and delivers an acceptance speech.
Professor Sun Jian at the School of Mathematics and Statistics of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was nominated as an "Outstanding National Young Scientist" on Sept 17.
Sun is primarily engaged in the research of the basic mathematical models and algo-rithms of artificial intelligence. He was once awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, as well as the First Prize of Shaanxi Provincial Natural Science Award, and the Outstanding Young Scholar Award of the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
He has published more than 50 papers in high-level international conferences and jour-nals such as IEEE TPAMI, IJCV, MIA, IEEE TIP, IEEE TMI, NeurIPS, CVPR, and ICCV.
He has served as an editorial board member for the authoritative international journal IJCV in the field of computer vision, and has been the chairperson for international con-ferences such as ICCV, ECCV, and MICCAI.
To further promote the spirit of science and create a social atmosphere that advocates innovation, the selection was held in Foshan's Shunde district, South China's Guang-dong, by China Youth Daily, the National Communication Center for Science and Technology, the China Association for Science and Technology and the Shunde Peo-ple's Government of Foshan.
The activity has received close attention. More than 100 colleges and universities, re-search institutes, and technology-based enterprises from 26 provinces across the country participated in the activity, recommending a total of 284 candidates, covering science, industry, agriculture, medicine and other fields.
The activity is held in Foshan's Shunde district, South China's Guangdong province from Sept 16 to 18.
