XJTU conducts Party history learning and education with symphony
A symphony concert performance by Yu Feng, president of the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM), and the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra was staged at Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on May 25 as a special contribution to Party history learning and education. Over 1,400 people including leaders of related government authorities and XJTU teachers and students enjoyed the performance together.
The Ningbo Symphony Orchestra, the CCOM Choir, the XJTU Students Symphony Orchestra, and the XJTU Art Education Center performed more than 10 Red classic songs, narrating Party history with music.
Yu used his musical skills to review the 100-year history of the Communist Party of China. He said that it was one of the performances that CCOM was making with over 100 universities nationwide to combine music with Party history learning and education and also a performance that the CCOM was pleased to give to inherit the red gene with red songs.
“Red songs have enriched the memory of the times and the spiritual strength of the Chinese nation. 2021 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, so young people should know the history of the Party, love the motherland, inherit the spirit of westward relocation and strive to dedicate themselves to the country,” said Yu.
The Ningbo Symphony Orchestra and the XJTU Students Symphony Orchestra jointly performed the large-scale original symphony to mark the 65th anniversary of “westward relocation”, reflecting XJTU’s westward relocation spirit as well as the dream-chasing journey of XJTUers.
Teachers of the XJTU Art Education Center performed a song named Beginner’s Mind to express that XJTUers never forget why they started. The audience and performers together sang “Ode to the Motherland”, which brought the symphony concert to a successful end.
Lu Jianjun, Party Secretary of the CPC XJTU Committee, believed that the special lesson was not only a vivid Party history education class but also a class of refined art appreciation. “It is vivid and profound experience to look back on the difficulties of the Long March and review the melody of the construction of China through music,” said Lu.
Focusing on the fundamental task of building morality and cultivating talents, XJTU has made great efforts to promote aesthetic education in the new era, striven to cultivate builders and successors with all-round development who inherit the westward relocation spirit, and encouraged all teachers and students to strive for the cause of the Party and the country and make new achievements and contributions.
Before the concert, XJTU President Wang Shuguo met with the guests, saying that music has the function of edifying sentiment and purifying the soul. He believed that this lesson can let everyone understand the story and the struggle of Party history from music, and really let the education enter their minds and hearts.
This lesson is one of the series of activities of “Music Party Class” of the Ministry of Education, and also one of the activities of the 2021 Ningbo Cultural Tourism Promotion Season.
