During the COVID-19 pandemic, XJTU prioritized the administration of international exchange and cooperation affairs by adopting all-round communication methods, such as letters, e-mails, and WeChat to maintain usual operations.

The University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR) initiated "cloud assistance" to pandemic control in late March with member universities sharing experiences with disease control, introducing their anti-epidemic measures, and conveying safetyand health wishes to each other through e-mail and video. UASR's principles of "Peace, Cooperation, Openness, Inclusiveness, Mutual learning, and Win-win" were reflected among member universities.
