On August 19, 2017, the First Convention of the World Union of Xi'an Entrepreneurs was held with sponsorship of Xi'an Municipal Government under the theme of “ ‘Belt and Road’: New Xi'an, New Economy, New Vitality”.

XJTU vice President Zheng Qinghua,on behalf of XJTU, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Xi'an Municipal Government, Alibaba (China) and Hangzhou Dt Dream Technology Co., Ltd. for the joint construction of the Western China Science &Technology Innovation Harbour Wisdom Uni-Town and the “School of Big Data Science”.

On August 20, 2017, a delegation of over 100 celebrities, experts, scholars and elites who attended the first Convention of World Union of Xi'an Entrepreneurs visited the Western China Science &Technology Innovation Harbour located in Xi’an-Xianyang New Area, marking a gathering of wisdom and strength for promoting industry-university-research cooperation and exchanges.
