NAS, AAAS and AAMS Fellow Douglas C. Wallace visited XJTU
On October 26, Dr. Douglas C. Wallace, a professor of UPenn and fellow of the American Academy of Sciences, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and American Academy of Medical Sciences, professor Liu Shusen, former director of Institute for Animal Studies at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and professor Chen Quan, a researcher and vice director of the State Key Lab for biomembrane and Membrane Biology Engineering at the institute visited XJTU to discuss the creation of Douglas C. Wallace mitochondrial biology and medical research center. XJTU VP Yan Hong and Mr Zhao Junwu, the executive member of XJTU CPC Committee and chairman of School of Life Science and Technology CPC Committee attended the discussion.
VP Yan Hong expressed his strong support for the creation of Douglas C. Wallace mitochondrial medicine center. He hoped that international talents, research facilities and scientific studies could be introduced to enable breakthroughs in bioscience.
Following the meeting, XJTU President Wang Shuguo met Dr. Wallace and demonstrated XJTU would promote the life science discipline and support the prestigious scholars to build high-level disciplinary platforms.
The host of the meeting laid a solid foundation for Douglas C. Wallace mitochondrial biology and medical research center, which is to be instituted in the middle of November.
