The Chinese Ministry of Education and Shaanxi Provincial Government join hands in building Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbor
On October 8, the Chinese Ministry of Education and Shaanxi Provincial Government signed agreement to jointly build the Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbor to lend full support to innovations of XJTU and serve the national strategies and local development. Madam Liu Yandong, the member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council attended the signing ceremony and met XJTU faculty representatives.
Minister Yuan Guiren of the Chinese Ministry of Education, Governor Lou Qinjian of Shaanxi Provincial Government, vice secretary-general Jiang Xiaojuan of the State Council, vice minister Hao Ping of the Chinese Ministry of Education, vice chairman Hu Heping of Shaanxi CPC Committee, vice governor Yao Yinliang and member of standing committee of Shaanxi CPC Committee, Ms. Liu Xiaoyan, member of standing committee of Shaanxi CPC Committee and secretary-general of Shaanxi CPC Committee, Chairman Zhang Maizeng of XJTU Board and vice chairman of Shaanxi NPC Committee, vice governor Zhuang Changxing of Shaanxi Provincial Government, and XJTU President Wang Shuguo also attended the ceremony. Chairman Zhao Zhengyong of Shaanxi CPC Committee chaired the ceremony.
Minister Yuan Guiren and Governor Lou Qinjian signed the Agreement on Building of Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbor between the Chinese Ministry of Education and Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government. Vice premier Liu Yandong witnessed the ceremony.
According to the agreement, the Chinese Ministry of Education and Shaanxi Province will give essential support to the harbor program and create the joint leadership team. Minister Yuan Guiren and Governor Lou Qinjian will lead the team.
Shaanxi Province will make concerted efforts to bridge the provincial government and XJTU and deliver full support in regards to land, capital, policy and mechanism etc to encourage reforms in knowledge transfer, talent education, and international innovative collaboration etc.
The Chinese Ministry of Education supports and encourages XJTU to engage talent education reforms, expansion, and mechanism-related reforms to better serve the local community. To this end, the ministry will deliver support in capital, projects, enrollment quota, and policy etc.
XJTU will also collaborate closely with Xixian New District to joint build the harbor project, create a key demonstration zone for cultural, scientific and technological exchanges on the Silk Road Economic Belt, explore new town building mode, serve the Western Development Program as well as the ‘one belt and one road’ initiatives, and eventually elevate the international prestige and network.
