The First XJTU Problem-based Learning Medical Education Workshop held
The First XJTU Problem-Oriented Learning Medical Education Workshop, i.e., Clinic Medicine PBL Workshop, was held on the International Conference Hall, Health Science Center. Assistant President LV Yi and Director MA Zhi'en of Faculty Development Center attended the workshop. The Workshop was organized by Talent Education Department, Health Science Center in partnership with Faculty Development Center. Over 180 participants from 50 teaching departments of over 20 medical schools gathered at the workshop.
On the two-day workshop, the participants made intensive discussions on problem-based learning (PBL). In the presentation session, participating scholars elaborated on PBL from theoretical, practical and experiential perspectives. The presentations covered review and prospect of global medical education, XJTU's medical education reforms, PBL process, PBL organization and administration, PBL evaluation and assessment, teaching plan writing, role of PBL teachers, Tutors' experiences, PBL and clinical thoughts, PBL and evidence-based medicine, and e-PBL etc. The workshop also had a practice session in which two XJTU teaching plans were selected to model PBL teaching, with the participants modeling students. It was a great success.
Professor ZHANG Ming of Talent Education Department, Health Science Center, chaired the concluding ceremony and gave a summary of the workshop. The national PBL workshop demonstrated the excellent traditions and strengths of PBL teaching at XJTU and greatly promoted the impact of XJTU in PBL teaching. It also created a platform to step up the PBL application in the Chinese medical education and enhance the medical education accordingly.
After the workshop, a training certificate was granted to the participating faculty members.
