RIKEN Director Chiharu Maki and Her Party Visit XJTU
On the morning of October 21, Chiharu Maki, the director of Japan's RIKEN research institute and Motohide Yokota, Head of RIKEN's Foreign Affairs Department visited XJTU. President Wang Shuguo and Vice President Xi Guang welcomed the visiting guests in room 107 of the Science Hall.
President Wang said that RIKEN was a top rank academic and research institution and that he was very pleased that XJTU and RIKEN have maintained a stable long-term cooperative relationship which has achieved rich results in a variety of fields. President Wang said he hoped that the relationship could continue well into the future, and that the two parties would continue their real cooperation at the leading edge of research.
Director Chiharu thanked XJTU for its warm welcome. She described the concept behind RIKEN and recounted the history and development of that concept. She said that RIKEN was founded at the beginning of last century as a comprehensive research institute, and that it continues to be dedicated to its original goal of improving human life through science and technology. A further goal is to promote the development of science and technology not only in Japan, but also around the world. Director Chiharu said that RIKEN is willing to create the future together with XJTU and to further extend their cooperation in research and education.
