Mr. John Tasker, the Deputy Director of the University of Liverpool Confucius Institute Visits XJTU
On the afternoon of October 20, Mr. John Tasker, the Deputy Director of the Liverpool University Confucius Institute visited XJTU. XJTU Vice President Xi Guang warmly welcomed Mr. Tasker and the two parties exchanged ideas on the Institute's current programs and possible future developments.
Mr. Tasker put forth a number of proposals. He said it was important that the Institute have its own characteristics. He said that the two partners should work to expand its program of Chinese study, and to promote the Chinese research work of the two universities, so as to help the University of Liverpool to build its Chinese specialty and provide a supply of highly competent Chinese teachers at Liverpool University. Vice President Xi Guang had strong praise for the proposals of Deputy Director Tasker. He said that Liverpool has a long-term cooperative relationship with XJTU, and that XJTU will continue to support the development of the Confucius Institute and try to extend its cooperation to new areas fields.
