The Fifth International Nonlinear Science and Complexity Conference was held in XJTU
On the Morning of August 4, the Fifth International Nonlinear Science and Complexity Conference was held in XJTU. The conference gathered 140 experts and scholars of nonlinear science from over 10 countries and regions in the world. The opening ceremony was chaired by the conference chairman professor Zhang Jiazhong from the School of Energy and Power Engineering.
At the conference, the director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges Office Liang Li delivered a welcome speech. The vice chairman of the conference Professor Machado, a specialist in fractional calculus, Polytechnic Institute of Porto also gave a speech. The chairman of the conference professor Zhang Jiazhong introduced the conference organization and the agenda as well.
The conference lasted for five days and had three parallel sessions. At the conference, 12 key issues were widely and deeply exchanged and discussed. The discussed issues include "chaos and overall nonlinear system", "geophysical nonlinear dynamics", "infinite dimensional nonlinear dynamical system", "the analysis and control of nonlinear dynamical system", "discontinuous dynamical system and synchronicity", "nonlinear fractional calculus dynamics and system", "fractional calculus and application", "the nonlinear dynamics from model to complex system", "the nonlinear dynamics in thermodynamics and fluid", "the nonlinear behaviors and diagnosis in dynamical system", "the dynamics and control of rotary machine" and "the modeling, numerical value simulation and optimization". They cover many disciplines like mathematics, dynamics, aviation and aero space, energy and power, life science and IT etc. As to these key interdisciplinary issues, 20 presentations were delivered and over 100 high-level academic discussions were conducted at the conference. The academic atmosphere of the conference was strong and experts and scholars engaged heated discussion on nonlinear science.
On the conference, the conference organizing committee awarded two important prizes on international dynamics. The Lagrange prize was conferred to professor Klyatskin from Russian National Academy of Sciences for his contribution to stochastic dynamical system. The Zalvasky prize was awarded to professor Prants from Russian National Academy of Sciences for his leadership in ocean current chaos research. The conference decided that the next conference be held in Brazil.
The International Nonlinear Science and Complexity Conference series were initiated in 2006. It aims to promote the advancement and exchanges of nonlinear science. The conference was held 4 times already, in China, Portugal, Turkey and Hungary respectively. This time, the conference was held in Xi’an for the first time and attracted famous scholars from many countries and regions including America,Russia,France,Spain,Portugal,Mexico,Turkey,Romania,Brazil,Chile,Canada,South Africa, Japan and Taiwan.
