Calligraphy Exhibition by Celebrated Korean Calligraphers Li Yongche and Zheng Xiongbiao Opens at XJTU Museum
On the afternoon of May 16, an exhibition of the calligraphy of the celebrated Korean calligraphers Li Yongche and Zheng Xiongbiao was opened at the XJTU Museum. Among those attending the opening ceremony were XJTU Deputy Party Secretary Gong Hui, the advisor to the Chinese Calligraphy Association and the curator of the XJTU Museum, Mr.Zhong Mingshan, and colleagues from the calligraphy circle of Shaanxi province.
Messrs. Li Yongche and Zheng Xiongbiao are among the most highly regarded students of the late Korean calligraphy master Jin Yingxian. Included in the exhibition are recent works by the two artists in various scripts, including seal script, official script, regular script, running hand and cursive script, and in a variety of forms, including couplets, horizontal scrolls and square papers.
Mr. Zhong Mingshan in his opening remarks recalled an exhibition of the works of Jin Yingxian, the teacher of Li Yongche and Zheng Xiongbiao, held in Xi'an previously, which introduces to Shaanxi residence the top of calligraphy arts. He said, "Today we are witnessing further insights into the relationship between China and Korea. Two Korean professors brought their fancy calligraphy works. They have their roots in Chinese tradition while at the same time they present their own personalities. I hope the close cooperation and friendship between China and Korea can continue to bear fruit."
