The delegation from Montgomery County of Maryland State visited XJTU
On the morning of September 20, a 60 member delegation from Montgomery County in the American State of Maryland visited XJTU. Vice President Cheng Guangxu met with the visiting guests in room 207 of the Science Hall. Director Liang Li attended the meeting. The delegation consisted of government officials, leaders of universities and entrepreneurs.
Vice President Cheng Guangxu warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and gave them a presentation about XJTU including its history, its programs, and the general conditions at the school today of XJTU. The subprefect of Montgomery County gave a presentation on the county.
The Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange Liang Li told the visitors about XJTU’s international orientation. She explained that XJTU's goal is to build itself into a genuine international research university, one whose students excel and whose facilities and research orientations are cutting edge. The president of University of Maryland described the social, economic and cultural characteristics of the University, and its place in American society. This was followed by a presentation about Montgomery College, given by its president. She said the aim of the college is to base itself upon community work and to focus on the training of teachers.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the Engineering Workshop and the University History Museum.
